Volume Fee Tiers
Volume fee tiers are the VIP levels at which an exchange lowers maker and taker commissions as a customer's 30-day traded volume rises.
Volume fee tiers, often labelled VIP levels, are the schedule by which an exchange lowers trading commissions as a customer's activity rises. Tiers are usually assessed on rolling thirty-day traded volume, sometimes combined with the balance of a platform token or an asset held on the account, and are recalculated periodically rather than instantly. Each tier states a separate maker and taker rate, so the discount for adding liquidity to the order book differs from the one for removing it. Higher tiers may also carry raised rate limits on the trading API. Because commissions compound across many trades, the tier a trader sits in materially changes net cost, but chasing a tier by overtrading adds cost of its own.
