Staking Taxation
When and how staking rewards are taxed — at receipt or at disposal — differs by jurisdiction. Keep dated records of every reward.
Staking taxation is the question of when and how rewards from staking are taxed. The disagreement between jurisdictions is not about whether they are taxed but about the moment: some treat a reward as income when it is received or becomes controllable, others when it is disposed of, and a few distinguish between rewards a validator earns directly and those distributed by a pool. The distinction matters because a reward taxed at receipt fixes a value on a day the holder may never realise, and if the asset falls afterwards the liability can outlast the value that created it. Liquid staking adds a further question, since receiving a token in exchange for a deposit may itself be treated as a disposal in some places. Record-keeping is the part within anyone's control: the date, quantity and value of each reward is what any of these treatments needs, and it is far harder to reconstruct later.
