Honeypot Token
A honeypot token lets you buy but blocks selling. The contract tricks used, and the checks that reveal the trap before you send funds.
A honeypot token is a token whose contract lets people buy but quietly prevents most holders from selling, so the chart looks healthy while the exit is closed. The block can be implemented in several ways: a transfer function that reverts for any address other than an allow-list, a sell tax set near one hundred percent, or an owner switch that pauses trading after enough liquidity has arrived. Because the trap lives in code rather than in marketing, the usual checks help: read whether the contract is verified, whether ownership was renounced, whether the source contains blacklist or fee-setting functions, and whether any address other than the deployer has ever successfully sold.
